Facts About Hutchinson City
The founder of the city of Hutchinson was a frontiersman named Clinton "C.C." Hutchinson who with the Santa Fe Railway agreed to set up a town at the railroad's crossing that was located at the Arkansas River. In reality the town actually was about a half a mile to the north, where were had been already established some households near the rim of Cow Creek. C.C. Hutchinson was also the founder of the Reno County Bank. The founder also prohibited the alcohol making the city known for its nickname "Temperance City".
The railroad was extended several times and changed management several times, and is still recognized by the inhabitants of the area by the name of Rock Island.
